FICKSBURG – The swift action of the Provincial Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) in Bloemfontein led to the arrest of a man following an incident involving the pointing of a firearm on a farm near Ficksburg.
On Tuesday, 04 November 2025 at approximately 13:00, AGU members deployed in Ficksburg received a complaint from the Ficksburg Community Service Centre (CSC) regarding a pointing of a firearm incident at a farm near Ficksburg.
Members promptly responded to the scene and, upon arrival, tactically approached a house on the farm. They located and confronted the suspect, identified as a 26-year-old foreign national, who had brandished the weapon.
The black imitation 9mm firearm was found concealed in the ceiling at a separate house, wrapped in a blue machine cover overall. The suspect was immediately placed under arrest for pointing of a firearm.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect was also linked to a case of Assault with the Intent to Commit Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH) in the Senekal area. He will appear in the Ficksburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
