KZN VIP Response Teams successfully apprehended a suspect following a reported housebreaking incident on Spurside Road on Tuesday Evening.
At approximately 23h41, the KZN VIP Control Centre received a call from the homeowner reporting that an unknown suspect had been spotted inside the residence. KZN VIP Response Officers were immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, Response Officers observed an Indian male suspect wearing a maroon T shirt fleeing from the property.
Officers acted swiftly and intercepted and apprehended the suspect before he could escape. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect gained entry through an unlocked side gate and accessed the residence after a front sliding door was left open. The suspect was seen fleeing with one cellphone and one smartwatch.
KZN VIP Response Officers successfully recovered the stolen items, which were returned to the homeowner. The suspect was detained, and the South African Police Service (SAPS) was notified.
SAPS attended the scene and took over further investigation.
