The R550 road next to Tsietsie section remains heavily barricaded with rocks and other objects. Protesters have also dug a hole in the middle of the road, causing major obstruction to traffic.
There are currently no protest participants on scene. The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) and South African Police Service (SAPS) Public Order Policing (POPs) Officers, are busy clearing the barricades and monitoring the situation.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible.
