The South African Police Service has arrested a 60-year-old woman in connection with the possession of suspected stolen livestock following an intelligence-driven operation by members of the Qonce Stock Theft and Zele police on Wednesday, 22 July 2026, at Luxolweni Location.
Police acted on information regarding goats that had allegedly been stolen in the Zele policing area during May 2026. The information led members to the Luxolweni Administrative Area, where a search was conducted.
During the operation, police recovered seven (7) goats believed to be linked to the reported stock theft. A 60-year-old woman was arrested and charged with possession of suspected stolen livestock and receiving stolen stock or produce.
The recovered livestock will form part of the ongoing investigation, which aims to establish ownership and identify any additional suspects connected to the theft.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Qonce Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 23 July 2026.
The District Commissioner of Buffalo City, Major General Christopher Wright, commended the community for working closely with the police by reporting criminal activities.
