Mpumalanga: The police in Embalenhle arrested two men yesterday, aged 33 and 44, for bribery and attempting to defeat the ends of justice.
The duo, who are expected to appear before the Evander Magistrate’s Court soon, wanted the police to destroy a murder docket where one of them is accused of stabbing 26-year-old Bolly Nkosi to death on 24 January 2017. Tsitsi Patric Majara was arrested the same day and charged with murder. The Court released him on warning. Early this month, Majara contacted the investigating officer and requested him to dispose of the docket.
Madara and his friend visited the police station to finalise their deal to dispose of the docket with the investigating officer. The suspects then handed over an amount of R5 000-00 but the dedicated and faithful member arrested the suspects and charged them with defeating the ends of justice.
The Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant-General Mondli Zuma has praised the member for his stance not to collude with the suspects. Lieutenant General Zuma said the member has displayed qualified proper qualities of true policing.
