On Tuesday 06 January 2026 at around 12:00, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) Officers, apprehended two (2) male suspects and narcotics worth over two hundred thousand Rands (R200 000) were seized, in the Kempton Park area.
While conducting crime prevention patrols, Officers received a tip-off about possible drug dealing taking place on Gottfried Street. On arrival, Officers witnessed a transaction and approached the individual. A body search on the first suspect led to the discovery of eighteen (18) ziplock bags of Khat, six (6) small ziplock bags of crystal meth with an estimated street value of one thousand two-hundred Rand (R1200), and forty Rand (R40) in cash.
Further investigation led Officers to a nearby premises, at the corner of Willow and Park Street, where the supplier was located. A thorough search uncovered one hundred (100) full Mandrax tablets, one hundred (100) half Mandrax tablets, thirty-six (36) crystal meth ziplock bags plus two (2) large plastics of crystal meth, one hundred and eighty-five (185) ziplock bags of heroine (nyaope) plus two (2) plastic bags of heroine, and twenty-two (22) plastic bags of Khat and one thousand and forty-eight Rand and twenty Cents (R1,048.20) in cash. The total street value of the drugs is estimated at over two hundred thousand (R200,000).
The handcuffed pair, who are a 35-year-old South African male and a 46-year-old foreign national, facing charges of possession and dealing in illicit substance, were taken to the Kempton Park police station and they are expected to appear, at the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court soon.
