A stray cow on the roadway caused a multi-vehicle collision, including a rollover, on Brandfort Road. Five vehicles were involved: a blue BMW, dark grey Hyundai i20, white Nissan Qashqai, white Toyota Vita, and black Mercedes-Benz GLC. There were eight patients in total (3 male, 5 female): two serious (P2), five minor (P3), and one fatality (P4).
Seven patients were transported for further care. Priority Care transported one P2 and one P3, ER24 transported one P2 and one P3, EMS transported one P3, and VR Med transported two P3. Receiving facilities included Life Rosepark Hospital (3), Mediclinic (1), National (1), and Pelonomi (2).
Provincial Traffic, SAPS, EMS, VR Med, ER24, Priority Care, Life EMS, and Netcare 911 responded. The Accident Investigation Unit and LCRC were activated, and towing services are on scene.
Traffic is being managed with one lane open in both directions; expect delays and proceed with caution. Please remain vigilant for animals on the roadway. Our thoughts are with all those affected.
