Last night, PVES responders attended the scene of a serious motorbike accident in Capital Park involving a rider who sustained multiple severe injuries, including trauma to the head and chest, as well as fractures to the arm and femur.
Several community groups arrived on scene to assist; however, there was a delay of over an hour before an ambulance became available for transport. During this time, PVES initiated advanced medical care on scene.
The patient received analgesia (Perfalgan, Ketamine, and Fentanyl) for pain management, as well as TXA to assist with clotting. An eFAST ultrasound assessment was also performed on scene using a Butterfly Network, Inc probe to evaluate for potential internal injuries.
Once transport became available, the PVES ECP continued treatment en route in the ProMed ambulance to the receiving hospital.
