The Durban Metro Police Service, in a joint intelligence-driven operation with South African Police Service eThekwini District Trio Crimes Unit and SAPS KZN Crime Intelligence, successfully tracked and located a wanted suspect in the Pinetown area during the early hours of this morning.
The 41-year-old male, who was wanted in connection with multiple murder cases across the KZN South Coast, was found at his hideout. Upon police attempting to effect an arrest, the suspect allegedly opened fire on officers, leading to a shootout. The suspect was fatally wounded during the exchange.
Firearms were recovered at the scene and will form part of the ongoing investigation.
This operation highlights the effectiveness of coordinated intelligence-led policing and the continued commitment of law enforcement agencies to combat serious and violent crime.
