A 52-year-old woman was scalded with boiling tea during a domestic altercation at a residence in Southridge – KZN this afternoon (Friday, 24/04/2026).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out to the scene after receiving a request for assistance.
On arrival, Reaction Officers were informed that a dispute had erupted between a 16 year old boy and his mother. During the confrontation, the teenager allegedly threw boiling tea over the woman.
It was established that the teenager, a Grade 10 learner, has a history of behavioural challenges and had previously assaulted his mother during disputes. It was further reported that he had, on a prior occasion, attempted to set his mother’s room alight.
The mother initially indicated her intention to pursue criminal charges but later declined, stating that she would seek the services of a Social Worker.
