On Tuesday 14 April 2026, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Northern Region Task Team Officers, arrested three (3) suspects for possession of a reported hijacked vehicle in the Boksburg North area.
While conducting crime prevention duties, Officers received information from a tracking company regarding a charcoal grey Range Rover that had been reported hijacked in the Pretoria East area, under a Boschkop case number. Using GPS coordinates, Officers proceeded to Edgar Street, where they located the vehicle inside the yard of a guest house.
Officers requested access to the premises, and the receptionist granted entry. Upon inspection, the vehicle was positively identified as the one reported hijacked. Preliminary questioning revealed that the vehicle had arrived on Monday, 13 April 2026, occupied by two (2) males and one (1) female.
The receptionist directed Officers to the room occupied by the suspects. The room was tactically approached and the occupants admitted that the Range Rover parked outside belonged to them.
The three suspects aged between twenty-five (25) and forty-one (41), were detained at Boksburg North Police Station and are facing charges of possession of a hijacked vehicle. They are expected to appear at the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
