On Friday 15 May 2026, members of the Anti-Economic Crime Task Team were deployed in Hanover Park Precinct to combat crime in the area. Members followed up on information received and arrested a suspect with 262 straws containing tik,177 mandrax tablets, 44 small sachets containing tik,11 small sachets containing cocaine,10 grams of cocaine, and an undisclosed amount of cash believed to be the proceeds of crime were confiscated.
The 30-year-old male was detained at Philippi SAPS and is due to appear in the Athlone Magistrates’ court on Monday, 18 May 2026.
