Following a serious head-on collision on the M27 in the vicinity of Waterloo, KZN VIP Emergency Services, whilst responding to the initial incident, came across a secondary crash scene approximately 500 metres away.
Circumstances leading up to both crashes cannot be confirmed at this stage and remain subject to further investigation.
On the initial scene involving a head-on collision, no injuries were reported; however, both vehicles sustained extensive damage.
At the secondary scene, it is believed that a breakdown vehicle had overturned, resulting in a pedestrian being struck and sustaining life-threatening injuries.
KZN VIP’s emergency medical teams rapidly arrived on scene and immediately began stabilising the critically injured patient before advanced life support intervention was initiated. The patient was thereafter transported in a critical condition to a nearby medical facility for urgent further medical treatment.
Traffic in the area was severely affected as emergency services worked to clear and manage both scenes safely.
All emergency services were in attendance.
