A Black Mamba measuring approximately 2.4 metres in length was safely removed from a property in Tongaat – KZN today (Monday, 15/06/2026) after it was discovered inside a tool shed.
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out at approximately 12:36 after a resident contacted the Tongaat Operations Centre requesting assistance.
According to the Caretaker, he opened the tool shed to retrieve equipment required for his daily duties when he noticed the snake positioned against the wall and ceiling. He immediately exited the structure and alerted a resident, who requested assistance.
Reaction Officers Bryson Bisnath and Desmond Philani Mkhulisi attended to the scene and confirmed the reptile to be a Black Mamba measuring approximately 2.4 metres in length.
The snake was safely captured and removed from the property without incident.
