A woman was shot and killed in Ekuphakameni, Inanda – KZN today (Wednesday, 17/06/2026).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out at approximately 08:19 following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, Reaction Officers located the victim’s lifeless body on an unpaved footpath a short distance from her home. She sustained gunshot wounds to her head and shoulder.
Residents informed Reaction Officers that they heard four (4) gunshots before exiting their homes and discovering the injured woman. Witnesses alleged that a male dressed in a blue dust coat fled the scene after the shooting.
According to the victim’s mother, the deceased had left home and was proceeding to her place of employment when she was attacked. She further stated that approximately one (1) week ago an unknown male visited their residence insisting on speaking to her. The woman declined as she did not know the individual and could not confirm whether the visit was related to the murder.
The victim’s cellphone, handbag and other belongings were still in her possession, indicating that robbery was unlikely to have been a motive
