Efforts to rid the streets of the Western Cape of illegal firearms yielded positive results when members of the #AntiGangUnit searched a premises in Orchid Street, Hanover Park, on Monday, 24 November 2025.
The members received intelligence which was operationalised and led them to the mentioned premises. The team proceeded and conducted a search of the premises, where a 9mm pistol and a large quantity of different calibre ammunition were found in a safe in the bedroom.
A 57-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.
Furthermore, information led the team to Halmans Walk, Hanover Park, where they found a 33-year-old male wanted on a murder case reported at Philippi SAPS in November 2025 and arrested him.
Once charged, the suspects will appear in the Athlone Magistrates’ Court for the mentioned charges.
