An abandoned house on Old Inanda Road in Mount Vernon – KZN caught fire earlier today (Thursday).
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call from a resident at approximately 10:51, reporting a building on fire. Upon arrival, Reaction Officers found a mattress burning outside the house and another mattress burning inside the abandoned structure. Residents stated that suspected drug users were occupying the premises.
Community members removed the burning mattress from inside the house and extinguished the fire prior to the arrival of First Responders.
The cause of the fire has not been confirmed.
