A taxi conductor was injured after a white minibus taxi crashed into a tree at approximately 10:30 this morning (Wednesday) at the corner of Madrona & Cottonwood Drive in Trenance Park, KwaZulu-Natal.
Heard in the video is the taxi driver explaining how the accident occurred.
The driver and conductor informed Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Officers that the vehicle suddenly accelerated out of control after the accelerator cable or pedal allegedly became stuck, causing the engine to rev excessively.
Reaction Officers were dispatched to the scene and found the damaged taxi against a tree.
Paramedics stabilised the injured conductor on scene before further medical care was arranged.
