An attempted hijacking occurred on Ranmoor Drive in the Greenbury area of Phoenix on Monday afternoon.
It is believed that a white Toyota vehicle pulled up as two occupants were entering their driveway. Three to four African male suspects, reportedly armed with firearms, attempted to hijack the victims’ vehicle.
When they were unable to remove the vehicle, the suspects allegedly robbed the victims of valuables. During the incident, a ring was cut from the female victim’s finger, while the male victim was assaulted.
The suspects thereafter fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of stolen property. The victims sustained injuries and were taken to a medical facility for further medical attention.
Members of South African Police Service and KZN VIP responded after receiving reports of the incident. A search was conducted, however the suspects evaded arrest.
