A VW Polo which was stolen from the Durban North area was successfully recovered by members of KZN VIP in the Sunsetrich area of Westrich, Newlands West on Sunday morning.
Members of KZN VIP received credible information regarding a possible stolen vehicle that was allegedly in the process of being stripped at a premises within the Newlands West area. Upon arrival on scene, it is believed that a suspect fled the area after noticing the response teams, abandoning the vehicle in a partially stripped condition.
The vehicle was immediately secured by KZN VIP members and the South African Police Service were notified. SAPS responded to the scene and the vehicle was subsequently removed for further investigation and processing. Investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
KZN VIP continues to intensify visible patrols and crime prevention operations within hotspot areas affected by vehicle theft and stripping syndicates.
