KuGompo police have arrested a 40-year-old medical doctor at King Phalo Airport following a complaint about a man in possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Police received the complaint on Friday, 24 April 2026, and immediately proceeded to the airport. The suspect was found to have been booked for a flight to Cape Town. Upon searching his luggage, officers recovered a firearm and 59 rounds of live ammunition.
The suspect could not produce a licence or any valid permit for the firearm or ammunition.
